Description

Native to slow-moving and densely vegetated waters of Southeast Asia, this species naturally inhabits shallow marshes, swamps, rice fields, and quiet streams with abundant aquatic vegetation and gentle water movement.

The body typically displays a brownish-gold to olive base covered with numerous iridescent blue-green spots that sparkle under aquarium lighting. A dark horizontal stripe runs along the flank, while the fins can show subtle red, orange, and blue-green highlights. Mature specimens often develop stronger iridescence and more pronounced fin coloration, particularly when well conditioned.

Behaviour is peaceful, cautious, and naturally adapted to heavily planted environments.
